Women of the ELCA

Statement of Purpose

"As a community of women, created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society and the world."

The Women of the ELCA participate in several major projects during the year.  The women annually complete more than 100 quilts which are sent overseas and to local missions.  Clothing drives are conducted as well as, layettes, packages for shut- in and working in the Mendota Lutheran Home Auxiliary.  The women also partake in many behind the scenes projects.

They have two "Circles" that meet monthly sharing in the good news and fellowship.  The Mary-Martha Circle meets at 9:30 a.m. the Third Thursday of the Month.  The Rebekah Circle meets at 7:00 p.m. the Third Thursday of the Month.  During January, April, July and October, Quarterly Meetings of the WELCA are conducted with Bible Studies being led by Pastor Wayne.  Additional activities include the annual Mother-Daughter-Friend Party and the Christmas Party.

For information on the next circle or WELCA meeting, please contact the church.
